So, as I haven't found out anything about it:

1.) Has anyone of the band stated why the new logo is kind of a revival of the old 2000-like logo?

2.) Many of the cover artworks I've seen on the net feature some sort of leather texture in the upper half of the background. Is this used somewhere? Because my CD (deluxe edition) as well as my LP (country exclusive) only have a plain black background.

Why? It's their 20th anniversary. They got Dave back. They went back to the old logo (little modified version, of course) as well.

They probably want to reflect to the times when everything was new and fresh. Just like it's now, with the Sum-back and all. Starting everything from scratch all over again, especially for Deryck.

I don't think you should read too deeply into the cover art, it's clearly just been designed by someone who has done merch for them before. The main body is ripped straight from an old t-shirt and the logo has been slapped on there with a shitty filter despite the fact that the style clashes horribly.
