GOB

I'm surprised there isn't a thread about Gob or their new album process.

I just had a nice chat with Brown Tom. Here's some info I got from him.

Some working titles he shared (although he said that most of those will probably change):

Terpsichore
NIL
Same As It Ever Was
Can't Get Over You (featured in studio update 2)
Apartment 13
Take It To The Grave
Life Is Shirt, Life Is Dull, Life Is Full Of Pain And This Is A Chance For Something Special
*(I believe "shirt" was a typo, so could be either "short" or "shit")
Call For Tradtion
We Will Self Destruct
Where I Come From The Birds Sing A Pretty Song
Radio Hades
White Lotus

Quotes I thought sharing:
i think i brought 30 [songs] to the band for final decision. prob wrote 60-80 basic ideas, some are very dif tho, like, classical melodies or country-esque song, folky whatever. most aren't really in the gob vein. i dont try to write punk songs, i just write whatever i feel like. most of the stuff i write would be sort of indie rock
honestly, once i start playing the songs, or singing them for the band guys, my feelings for the song become crystal clear. i am the most brutal with the songs, so it's easy to whittle the number of songs down. besides, we don't want to release an anthology, just an album

Check out their studio updates if you haven't yet!

I listen to them sporadically, they're good, but nothing that hasn't been heard before, but still I kinda want to hear the album, I wonder if they managed to sculpt their sound and made it bigger !

I really hope they don't keep "take it to the grave" because it sounds like modern poser pop punk song title =/

Normally I don't care about titles, but that one absolutely sucks.

I am so excited for this and hopes it does come out in 2011 =D

Can't say I care much for Gob, but if the new album is anything like their last one, I will probably buy it.

exactly, Muertos Vivos is the other reason why I wanna hear their new album, cos Gob are one of the fewer bands where the last album is the best one !

I liked Gob's more punk/pop punk stuff

Anyone else find it funny how their one cover song sounds like it could have been covered by Sum 41?

I find it funny that this quote would fit more perfectly with this song.

Thanks for the info, Tomi!
I really really loved Foot in Mouth Disease and Muertos Vivos.. these two albums are so different yet so great! It feels like Foot in Mouth is AKNF and Muertos is Chuck... one is this teenage pop punk album, the other one is fuckin' heavy metal with some crazy riffs and solos. I'm excited for the new album!

Tomi, did you get some other interesting info? like when they plan to release the album and in what stage of recording they are? I remember Tom said he will try to finish recording all vocals during the time the Sums had between the Australian Soundwave shows and the US shows, and they had like 2 or 3 weeks, especially considering Deryck got ill and all.

Hope you're not serious dude... Pretty disrespectful against Gob really, and remember Sum 41 were the ones opening for Gob at the gigs first of all so fuck off(!!!) srzsly.

But anyways, thanks for the info I'll post about it on gob fans unite when i get on the laptop.

he didn't mean to offend Gob, he just compared it to those two albums because Sum 41 is obviously the band he knows better, listens to longer, and likes more ... would it really please you if he wrote that Chuck sounds like Muertos Vivos and AKNF sounds like Foot In Mouth?
