Jailbreaking

It's legal now... just saying.
Anyway, for anyone that wants to jailbreak, jailbreakme.com is a great site (make sure you haven't updated past 4.0.1). Just go on the website using your iPhone/iTouch's Safari App, and slide the little bar. It takes like 5 minutes.

Unfortunately, I'm a newbie at this, and just did it yesterday. Anybody have tips on Cydia, and what to download?

It's always been legal mate, if you own a piece of tech and can whatever the fuck you want with it. Just don't expect the manufacture company to hold it's warranty though.

Also backup and sync with iTunes before you do this.

SBSettings is the most awesome app ever, Get it from cydia.

As for why yours is crashing Peter, I've no idea. Worked fine on my 3GS new Bootroom 4.0.1 and iPhone4 4.0.1

It installs an application called Cydia, go to the last page and see if it's there.

What does it do?

I know, it is not there. It goes to the back screen with the apple on it, it then goes to my locked screen. After I unlock it, it is just the same as before.

Try enabling then disabling all content restrictions in settings.

SB settings adds toggles for wifi, 3G, flight mode and various other things as a quick menu by swiping the status bar at the top

You can de-update it, I'm pretty sure. You just have to download the old OS, and then press restore while holding down shift. Then you select the old OS.

or... just wait for a new one lol :P

Shouldnt matter if you updated it... All current firmware versions are jailbreakable.

If its an ipod Touch 3rd Gen or iphone £GS (New bootrom) or iPhone 4, In order to downgrade firmware in future, google Firmware Umbrella

Or Cydia SHSH blob backup
