I asked a guy who was at the show and that's his answer :
Sum 41 was the worst performance of the show. Deryck was completely smashed and could barely sing some songs. In between songs he ridiculously danced around the stage, while shushing the crowd. At one point he demanded a shot of Jack Daniels before he would play the next song. The rest of the band, drummer especially was noticeably annoyed. They could have easily played another two songs had it not been for his stupid self-qualifying bullshit. Shit would not have been acceptable in the US.

I'm so curious to see how drunk he really got now. I hope it wasn't Creed style drunk.

Yes, that was an attempt for sarcasm.

Re: SBM Tour Part II - Asia 2012
Listened to Go Chuck Yourself again today. Jesus Christ, why don't the band do that kind of show any more? Both the vocals and instruments were top-notch, as was the crowd interaction. What happened to Deryck using a megaphone in No Reason? His singing live has become terrible over the past year and the setlists continue to get more and more restrictive to the predictable (and fairly brief as well). I'm putting it down to the excessive drinking and Deryck's new self-infatuation as a rockstar (ie. just a phase), but I'm starting to think it's more than that. Some of you say, well, the Sums have always been like this. Well yes and no. They've always done crazy shit and gotten inappropriately drunk. But I don't think the band have experienced an era such as this, where their shows are consistently average and the frontman is pissing pretty much everybody off with the amount of alcohol he consumes on a regular basis. It's not that Deryck doesn't care about touring or the fans; he just doesn't take it as seriously as he used to due to his new lifestyle.
I mean, hell, look at this. Deryck hasn't put anywhere near this much into his shows in well over a year. Not to mention his voice.
And, fuck it, he actually looks healthy in this video. Honest to god, if I saw him on the street, I'd assume he was some sort of pothead (which I hope he isn't).

Re: SBM Tour Part II - Asia 2012
I'm just so sick of all this discussion about how Deryck is in bad condition and their live shows were better before.
Yes, Deryck is back being drunk on stage, but that hasn't had a negative effect on MOST of their shows. God, this was their first show back after 8 months, and just like Jeremy said, Deryck could've taken a bit too much to get the nervousness away. You can't judge Sum 41's current condition by judging only the few shows they've had now.
I honestly couldn't care less if he was drunk or not, as long as he and the crowd enjoys the show.
I'm not saying I couldn't care less about his health, but hey, it's HIS life and HIS choices. If he chooses to drink, then what can I do about it? At least he's having fun!
About the show content, you are lying if you say the setlists weren't predictable before. Dude, they hardly changed one song during Chuck and UH eras! SBM era has had way more variable setlists than those two eras, and that's a fact.
Also, Deryck ditched the pre-rehearsed stage banter for SBM era. He may still use some familiar lines here and there, but at least he hasn't thought about them beforehand. The show is much more enjoyable when he says what he thinks, rather than thinks what he says.
Also, you CAN'T judge their shows by seeing (unprofessional) clips from YouTube. I've seen them live many times, and there hasn't been a single thing I didn't enjoy in those shows. You have to have an extremely tough luck if you end up seeing a bad Sum 41 show, since that rarely happens.
I'm not sure how many times I've written a post like this, and I'm afraid this won't be the last one.

Re: SBM Tour Part II - Asia 2012
Of the videos posted in here, they sounded fine. The Hell Song sounded great.
My only gripe is that if somebody compared his look during UH era (face) and SBM then they'd probably ask if he got cancer.
Also I guarantee his hair is red because he did that for the Blood In My Eyes video or something.

He had blonde hair during the time of the video shoot. He dyed it red just before the tour.kILLDR3n wrote:Also I guarantee his hair is red because he did that for the Blood In My Eyes video or something.
