I think that Avril still wants to be Deryck's friend, maybe she feels a little guilty for how much has Deryck been fucked up since the divorce, and by hanging out with him she makes sure he's alright
On the other hand, Deryck still thinks she's a bitch, just as he thought when he wrote that lie about being okay on his myspace, you know, one night you write you still stay friends and the other night you say "she swallowed" to the cameras(and being drunk only means that he MEANT it, cause people are the most honest when they're drunk, I know that from experience) ... that's how I think it is, depends on how much Deryck is satisfied with the new girl, if she's okay, than he might not feel so bad about Avril right now, but eventually the other girl will dump him as well I think, and Deryck will be fucking miserable again ...
I don't think Deryck will ever be able to be a real friend of Avril's again, he will pretend to not look like a total fuck, but I think that after all he got too disappointed in her, cause what he wanted from his marriage was someone to grow old with
maybe I'm just paranoid though, but after a divorce where only one side wants to break it up, there will never ever be friendship again, Deryck's pretense will be present though ...
