So i broke my A string..
When I went to restring it, i only had one wound around the tuning post until it became tight, and at it's pitch. When i tuned it to A, there was still only one wound around the tuning post. I'm sure that this should not happen, but i don't know why it did. Anyone know?

Re: String Problem
You're doing it wrong. Or buying knockoff strings.

Re: String Problem
It might come off. You have to have about 3 wraps around the tuning post.

Re: String Problem
It's not a big issue, just keep playing and it should be fine, unless it's hardly wound round at all. If it's wound round one full time then it'll be fine.

Re: String Problem
Wait, did you buy new strings? Or did you just use the old one again? If you did that, BUY NEW STRINGS. When you go to put those new strings on make sure you leave enough extra string after the tunning peg to wrap around at least three times and you should be fine.

Nope they were new strings. Hmm, i guess i didn't leave enough string, but even though i didn't leave that much, it still was tight.2712 wrote:Wait, did you buy new strings? read this: http://www.taylorguitars.com/global/pdf ... string.pdf
you have to have at least 2-2.5 inches of extra string after the tuning peg to wrap around three times.
EDIT: well, you dont't "have to", but it's recommended...
