Labels are run by moneysharks. They don't care about the music itself, but you don't bite the feeding hand.

It's all about publicity. If the Sums tell some people that a song will be out in a few weeks, and it isn't, people will pay closer attention to when it does come out. Because, chances are those few people told more people and so on. It would even help the albums sake if the song is met to critical acclaim. Let's hope that the label is doing enough to promote the album and just hang tight.

Totally. I'm going to a couple of parties this weekend and a 12-minute song playing in the car while going to these parties would be the best part of my day (that I would remember of course).

EDIT: I'm hoping for the weekend, but if not, I'm hoping for Tuesday. I might be going out drinking on Monday and a 12-minute Sum 41 song might be a nice hangover cure.

You'd figure though that would make people drift away from it. Like people would probably get tired of waiting and not care. Since their like one of the biggest bands at the Warped Tour I would think that would draw attention to them and get more people interested.
