Green Day @ Helsinki, Finland on June 8th 2010.
Unbelievable, great show. Although I saw them in Belgium in October, so I knew what to expect.
But this was an outside gig with 26 000 spectators, so the atmosphere was huge.
And being in the front row was big plus.
About supporting bands, The Hives was a positive surprise. I've never heard anything by them before, but they were really energetic and started up the crowd really well. Unlike Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, who were kinda dull. They just stood up there, didn't move at all and just played the songs. Their "I Love Rock 'N' Roll" was the only song that got the crowd screaming.
When Green Day came up, the crowd went crazy instantly. My ears are still hurting from the screaming of fangirls. And Billie Joe made sure the crowd wouldn't stop going crazy, having crowd sing-alongs in most of the songs if not all of them. He let the crowd sing "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" almost entirely. Billie Joe kept calling people up every now and then, and as expected, he brought a crowd member to sing "Longview", but the girl sucked at remembering the words, so BJ kicked her out after the first chorus. The second girl sang a lot better. In fact she was from Australia, probably the one who said at the IdiotClub forums to be at every GD's European show during this tour.
Major disappointment was that I had made a sign for them, saying "Sons of Rage & Love" on the other side and "Time of My Life" on the other, referring to the songs Jesus Of Suburbia and Good Riddance.
But it was only after three songs or so when the security took it away from me. I just held it in front of me against the fence, since I was in the front row, so I wasn't blocking anyone's view. Meh.
But a great show nonetheless.
Here are some (low quality) pics.
Recording a video was strictly prohibited, and since I was in the front row, I woul've been caught up really fast. So I couldn't concentrate on my camera so I wouldn't seem so obvious. So I didn't really pay attention to the video quality, just enjoyed the show.
After watching these vids, I'm pissed since in majority of them you can't hear Billie Joe sing, instead it's only full of ugly crowd voices.
The setlist:
1. Song Of The Century (playback)
2. 21st Century Breakdown
3. Know Your Enemy
4. East Jesus Nowhere

"i think we're gonna be one of those bands thats around forever and even makes records, even if noones buying them and using them for toilet paper...but we'll still make them because we'll be the best fuckin toilet paper anyones ever used...." - Tom Delonge

Best show ever. I wasn't really that in front but still it was fucking great experience. I should have good quality vid of Intro, 21 Guns and When It's Time. I'll up them to youtube later. Billie Joe is the greatest showman on the earth.
They also played Iron Man / Sweet Child of Mine / Hey Jude covers.

Totally. Saw them in Orlando and in Manchester, amazing show both times. I ALMOST got on stage.. the guy in front was picked instead of me.. that FUCKER!! I'd have played bass so much better than him.Nic wrote:Green Day are gods live.
Also The Hives are awesome, they have some great songs and albums.
