Re: sum 41 live tone
Something Marshally/High gain, treble humbucking pickups (you're set with teh Gibson) with a mildly saturated distorted tone. You'll get close to the sound with your set up but it won't be the EXACT sound ever.

Re: The Dirtiest Fingers: Fender Guitars & Gibson Pickups
Ooh yeh! Remember that the pickup isn't the only thing that can really darken a sound. Some pedals do quite the trick. I'm playing a Gretsch hollowbody guitar and its got more twang than oomph, so to get that 'oomph' (yes we're using technical terms here ;) ) I've got an Ibanez Tubescreamer to pack ...

Re: The Dirtiest Fingers: Fender Guitars & Gibson Pickups
I personally don't recommend you routing your guitar to make room for a pickup. If it was a Squier, it wouldn't be such a bad idea because those guitars are fairly cheap. But if you've got a proper Fender Tele, you're only going to depreciate its value by irreversibly tampering with the wood. Like i...

Re: Guitar Height Level
This goes with all things (working, sitting, tv watching, other instruments, sexing) if you feel uncomfortable - stop. You could actually do alot of damage to your wrist if you try and work it too hard and too long in a "contortionists" position. There's always a height for the guitar wher...

^^Agreed But also the bass is not based solely on the guitar it's based on the actual chord played, for example if the guitar is playing a C Major chord and bass could use notes like [C] [E] [G] and can use accidentals if they fit, Hope I helped You mean stay within the key of the song? The bass ca...

My 2000 Gretsch 6120W I just got last week. Best guitar by far out of the two. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v377/tanguyen/mini-P1250630.jpg My Ashton A-somethingrather. My first guitar and seeing as it's cheaper than the Gretsch (by a loong way), I tricked it up with sticky tape. Pretty much an...

Punk bass usually just plays behind the guitars as its more guitar driven. But if you wanna expand into funk or fusion, even RnB, you might want to think fingers. Plus with fingers, you produce a warmer sound and can learn more advanced bass techniques such as string popping and slapping which could...

Panic at the disco Tokio Hotel Fall out boy MCR Dimmu Borgir Trivium Korn lot of other boring Nu metal bands who all sound the same, Black metal bands (yuck!), and all rap! Lessons are good because the tutors teach you the correct technique. You'd be surprised to see how many kids out there who just go and learn solos, and when you tell em to play chords, they play as if they have no elbow, or wouldn't even know how to strum the chord at all. Its true that you should f...

muse suck Talk about strong opinions! I've heard more Muse stuff than Radiohead stuff and its obvious that Muse drew influence on the other. But like most Sum 41 fans (who know they do take, borrow, beg and steal from their own fair share of other bands), its the music that counts afterall. They pu...
