How do you do this?

That, is Underclass Hero. I'm doing some song recording (Oh, wow. Bet that's gonna blow) And i was wondering how you get the cool little voice effect? Example, after the solo.. "1, 2, 3, 4." Or the "Speak for yourself" esk-parts at the beginning.
As to, what it might be called? How to do it? (level changing and such.) Just figured somebody might know.. It is, indeed a long shot. But worth a whirl? Lol. Thanks for any help!
P.s, tough time deciding section. I'm hardly a musician..

Try some equalizer settings and mute it a bit, I'm sure i could accomplish the same effect easily but it's hard to explain

No, i understand. I'm working with a decent program? It prolly has all the shit, so if you wanted to attempt to explain, i'll do my best to execute?

It just sounds like it's quieter and maybe most of the bass cut from it. Shouldn't be very hard to get a similar sound, you'll just need to have every part recorded before it'll sound cool

Right. Or give it it's own erm.. Track? Cos it'll be used more than once anyway.

Yeah I'd record all those parts on a separate track, or if it's one bit that's going to be repeated a few times then record it on a separate track and just copy it or whatever. Then cut the bass a bit and lower the volume. You could probs add a bit of flanger to it as well, that'd sound cool, if your program has effects on it. Should be sweet then.

I agree with what's been said, you definitely have to play with the EQ and maybe use some compression. It's really close to a "telephone" effect, I think there are some tutorials about how to achieve this effect with the program you're using.

you roll-off/cut the low and high frequencies with an EQ. i can't remember the exact numbers but i think it's everything below 400hz and everything above 3400hz to get that "telephone sound". and you could do all the vocals on one track but just to EQ automation if your using logic or protools or cubase or any decent audio program.
