You will have fun doing it that's for sure. But if it is your first build it should be an interesting experience. I would plan, plan and plan out how you want to do things. Research EVERYTHING multiple times. Don't buy shitty parts, it wont be worth it. Keep us updated! Also, Check out the telecaster I'm building.

Well, it's not that great on clean. But it sounds wonderful if you wanna play with distortion. My advice would be to simply visit www.seymourduncan.com and register on the forum, and then ask them what the best pickup for you would be. :D

Well, what kind of start is it? Is it like a fat strat? Example: Image

If so, then maybe it might sound okay on clean. But with my rig, all i have is one bridge humbucker on most of the time. On clean, it doesn't sound THAT good. It doesn't sound bad, though. Like i said, those people would know. not me. :)

EDIT; And as for control potentiometer, the best brand to choose is CTS. From what i know, that is.

Moved this to the Musicians section.

Anyway, with the Seymour Duncan SH4 you can probably play a little bit of everything. I have one in my Telecasters with a 500k pot. They all sound great. It's an all-around pickup that you can use for pretty much any style of music.

I dunno. I sometimes find the wide range sounds better on clean. But then again, i don't have a sexy toneport to use. :D

The JB should be good for clean if you have the right settings. I hardly ever play on clean or mess about with the clean settings. But I think just turn down the gain and add some reverb, it should sound okay.

I really want to get the guitar sound from Some Say live in Go Chuck Yourself.

I know! It really sounds good.

And haha! That's what i do. Even though my shitty amp doesn't have reverb because the 15g kinda sucks, it sounds pretty sick with the gain all the way down. Though, i don't have such a need for any clean setting either, lol.
