Time for a Rant: Windows 7 & Internet Explorer 8

NOTE: I wasn't sure sure to post this in Current Events or not but since it's more PC related I decided to put it in here. This was meant to be on my MySpace blog but their doing 'maintenance' on my profile.

Windows 7 is set to be the best Windows operating system ever made and Internet Explorer 8 really has underwent several improvements which make a pretty decent browser but I'll stick with Firefox 3.5 for now cause I'm really excited about the new prospects of HTML5. I've already done some experimenting on my soon to be published website which sits on my local WAMP server right now, although I do wish that other web browsers will hurry up and implement these web standards so more websites will start using HTML5.

I've got Windows 7 installed on my 2nd hard drive and I have to say once I got used to the new taskbar it is a pretty epic operating system. Having always preferred Windows over the other operating systems I was a bit weary when Windows Vista showed up and at first I wasn't sure with all the things I've heard over the internet but in 2008 I though I would install Vista as my main operating system and to be honest it is a little bit slower that Windows XP but it had a lot more to offer so I didn't mind an extra 5 seconds boot time.

Now Internet Explorer is the web browser that I used to use all the time for the mere fact that it was there and for the most part it done it's job. I've never had any problems with the program. There's only one reason I changed to Firefox and that is with the upgraded UI with IE7. I hated it and I though it looked very ugly and bulky. So now I use Firefox as my default (without any themes and only one add-on 'Adblock Plus' if you were intrested) and have IE as a backup.

Now here's the thing that is really pissing me off right now and is the whole European Regulations with Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 8. If you dunno what it's about I'll give you a quick summary. The Europe dudes are bitching about Microsoft packaging their Windows operating system with Internet Explorer (I find it weird that they never bitch about Ubuntu and Firefox being packaged together) so what they forced Microsoft to do is release a version of Windows without IE in Europe only. It doesn't effect me at all since I stated that I moved away from IE a while ago but the people in my family still use Internet Explorer cause they don't really know any better cause their not all computer geeks or internet buffs like you people reading. So when they get a new computer with Windows 7 'E' their going to have no web browser at all and most likely have no idea what to do (expect my grandad, he's pretty good with computers) but thankfully the others have no to deal with that.

Now that is what is pissing me off at the moment and it ain't even the first time, I remember Microsoft were forced to release version of Windows XP without Windows Media Player but I really didn't read to much into that at the time.

Anyway I want to thank you for reading this little rant, I was good getting my feelings out.

Until next time

I'm sorry Boni, this is just too long to read, maybe if you put a picture of naked boobs within the article, people might actually read it <3

I read it all :2cool4u:

you may need to give a while to digest it all though!

I don't know much about this new Windows, and tbh I know fuck all about computers apart from it's good for porn and boobs and big willys and stuff. I switched to Mac last year (for my home computer, I still use Windows XP at work) and personally I love it. though I don't see a HUGE number of differences between the 2. I'm not one of the geeks who will argue all day long about which OS is better and which head geek is smarter, but honestly, should I switch back to Windows?

fuck the EU. I honestly don't see the point of it sometimes. I do wish we would leave it. It doesn't seem to benefit us compared to the majoity of other countries in it.

Well, there's no doubt that there will be somebody on this forum will 'yeah you should likes' and someone else will be like 'hell no Macs ftw' but all I'm just going to say is this. It's really up to you, it's not a case of which operating system is better or anything like that, it's what operating system you feel more comfortable with. I personally feel more comfortable with my Windows/Ubuntu combination but I use Windows more for my games, I never spend £450 on a GPU for nothing likes hehee.

to be honest, I feel comfortable using both systems. I mean I like being able to use both. I've experienced less problems with Mac, but I'm not really using it to it's full potential anyway. After experiencing both systems, I can kind of see where people are coming from where they say Windows or Mac is better, both systems seem to have their pro's & con's. I suppose it is just preference and personal opinion to which one you prefer, like alot of things. It's nice to just have a choice really.
