Jason "Cone" McCaslin

Jason Paul McCaslin, better known as Cone, was born on September 3, 1980 in North York, Ontario to father Paul (nicknamed as Porno Paul) and mother Sharon. He has two sisters by the names of Katie and Allison. He was the last member to join the Canadian punk band Sum 41 after Mark Spicoluk (who later went on to play for Avril Lavigne) quit in 1999. Cone attended Exeter High School in Ajax, Canada. He picked up his first bass (an El Degas) at 14, when he and a few neighbors decided to start a grunge garage band in high school.

This band was unsuccessful and short-lived, and had several horrible names (eg. Wizard, Lizard Tongue, and Presse to name a few). In the months leading up to early 1999, Cone was in a band with Matt Brann (who would go on to drum for 3 years for Avril Lavigne) called Second Opinion. At the beginning of 1999, he joined a rival band which was comprised of three friends and fellow aspiring musicians: Deryck "Bizzy D" Whibley, Dave "Brownsound/Hot Chocolate" Baksh, and Steve "Stevo32" Jocz. In 1999, the band, which was Sum 41, managed to sign a record deal with Island Records. Cone insists that he is the reason they got signed, as it happened just a few months after he joined the band. Later in 2002, Cone joined Todd Morse of Juliette & The Licks and H2O, to start a side project called The Operation M.D. They didn't make much headway on their work until 2006. Dr. Dynamite (Cone's nickname in The Operation M.D.) and Dr. Rocco (Todd Morse) released their debut album, We Have An Emergency on February 20, 2007. A sophomore album, Birds + Bee Stings, followed in 2010.

In 2008, Cone married Shannon Boehlke. His friends and fellow band mates Deryck Whibley and Todd Morse (H2O, The Operation M.D.) performed at the wedding.
